Synopsis

Determined to ensure Superman’s sacrifice was not in vain, Batman and Wonder Woman recruit Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash to form an unprecedented league of heroes to save the planet from the catastrophic threat of Darkseid, Steppenwolf & DeSaad.

The first thing you will notice in Zack Snyder’s Justice League is the aspect ratio, which is at 1.33:1. The reason for that is Snyder’s love for the IMAX format. But not to worry, as it really is not a big deal visually, and you actually see more in the frames. I loved the fact that we get the end of Batman V. Superman as the beginning of this film as it properly kicks off Justice League and sets the tone. I am not here to draw a comparison to what we got back in 2017. I will say that it is a completely different movie and it is best to forget its predecessor.

The Snyder Cut is deep and focused on introducing the members of the Justice League.

Obviously at 4 hours long, there is no rushing the plot as this film takes you on a rich journey with your favorite DC characters. They all shine and have a good amount of screen time separately. If you watched Watchmen, then you will see the type of scenes that Zack Snyder is obsessed with as he attempts to replicate similar styles of scenes. Wanting more Gal Gadot after watching Wonder Woman 84, then this movie will satisfy your appetite. If you wanted more of Cyborg and The Flash, then you will be happy with the extra screen time they are given. Jason Mamoa’s Aquaman is still a badass and brings a Rock N Roll attitude to the Justice League. Ben Affleck as Batman won me over from his first appearance in Batman v. Superman. Seeing him shine in Justice League was extremely satisfying. I really hope this movie lights a flame beneath the Batman versus Deathstroke movie that was previously planned.

The action throughout this entire movie is amazing.

The different battle scenes we get are long, detailed, and exciting. The trademark Snyder style is present throughout the whole 4 hours. If that visual style was never your cup of tea, then this movie won’t sit well with you. The color desaturation on Superman’s black suit is flawless as it looks amazing when he makes his return. The only CGI gripe that I have is Cyborg’s suit which may be more of a design issue for me, as I can not fall in love with it. This movie will captivate comic book fans and hopefully keep the door open for Zack Snyder.

Verdict

I give Zack Snyder’s Justice League an 8 out of 10. I really hope this movie persuades WB executives to let Zack Snyder continue his Justice League arc as an alternate timeline. It would not affect the plot of any upcoming solo movies that are currently in production. Many have said that this movie ends on a big cliffhanger. I did not think so, but I will let you be the judge of that.

Rating: 8 out of 10.
