The adaptation featured iconic songs and Wilder’s portrayal of Wonka’s mysterious, eccentric, and mischievous nature. Director Tim Burton’s unique vision was brought to the story in 2005. It starred Johnny Depp as a more eccentric, darker iteration of Willy Wonka. Both film adaptations left an indelible mark on popular culture.
