William Hurt passes away at age 71.

William Hurt, an Oscar-winning actor, has passed away at age 71. He was known as General Thaddeus E. “Thunderbolt” Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hurt was diagnosed in 2018 with terminal prostate cancer that had spread to the bone. He won an Academy Award for Kiss of the Spider Woman. Hurt made multiple MCU appearances in The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Infinity War and Black Widow. He also had a brief cameo in End Game.
His close friend posted the following:
“It is with great sadness that the Hurt family mourns the passing of William Hurt, beloved father and Oscar winning actor, on March 13, 2022, one week before his 72nd birthday. He died peacefully, among family, of natural causes. The family requests privacy at this time.”

Hurt also starred in A History of Violence, A.I. Artificial Intelligence, The Village, Syriana, The Good Shepherd, Mr. Brooks, Into the Wild, and Robin Hood.
