Synopsis

Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Nicolas Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous super-fan. However, things take a wildly unexpected turn. Cage is recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend. He has to channel his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage.

Nicolas Cage is officially back! The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent will restore Cage’s career. This film is somewhat meta, and Cage is an excellent sport for allowing this film to bring up his own real-life situations. The chemistry between him and Pedro Pascal is undeniable. I hope this is not the last time they star in a film together. Pascal’s performance is delightful, and you can tell how much he enjoys acting alongside Cage.

In addition, Nicolas Cage super-fans will absolutely love this movie, but even the average moviegoer will appreciate it. The only gripe I had with this movie was stuffing Tiffany Haddish in this film and giving her a prominent role despite delivering a flat and humorless performance.

Verdict

I give The Unbearable Weight Of Massive Talent 4 out of 5 stars. It is a fun buddy film filled with great humor and non-stop self-awareness. This film should give Nicolas Cage’s career the boost it needs to star in a future blockbuster.
