Titanic Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary

James Cameron’s box office smash hit Titanic turns 25.

James Cameron has had a lot of amazing accomplishments in his life, and Titanic is one of them. The romance film with epic visuals came out twenty-five years ago today. The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Billy Zane, and Kathy Bates. The Avatar director broke box office records in 1997 when Titanic made $1,843,478,449 globally as showtimes rolled into the following year and continued for months. After multiple re-releases, it currently sits at $2,201,647,264 and is ranked number 3 on the worldwide box office records.

Synopsis

An epic, action-packed romance set against the ill-fated maiden voyage of the R.M.S. Titanic, the pride and joy of the White Star Line and, at the time, the largest moving object ever built. She was the most luxurious liner of her era — the “ship of dreams” — which ultimately carried over 1,500 people to their death in the ice-cold waters of the North Atlantic in the early hours of April 15, 1912.
