The Suicide Squad is a gritty and thrilling roller coaster ride!

James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad is finally here, and we can actually thank Marvel for making this movie happen. After the controversy of letting Gunn go from Guardians of the Galaxy 3, DC made the right move and swooped him up. Of course, we all know now that Marvel realized their mistake and brought him back to finish his trilogy, but Gunn may be giving us more DC movies after that.
Synopsis
The worst Supervillains are kept in Belle Reve, and they will do anything to get out. They will even join the super-secret, super-shady Task Force X. Those willing to take the chance find themselves dropped (literally) on a remote jungle island for a search and destroy mission. Did we mention it’s teeming with militant adversaries and guerilla forces? One wrong move, and they’re dead.
The Suicide Squad is a total James Gunn movie. DC gave him full reign to do anything he wanted, and he took advantage of that. It is so raw and gritty for a Comic Book Movie. The visuals and action are really incredible, and nothing comes off cheap, even all the gore and blood. You can’t go wrong with the main cast, who are the best actors in the industry. After watching this movie, you will want more. I would like to see more of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, and even John Cena’s Peacekeeper, who is actually is already getting his own HBO Max series.

The Suicide Squad is not perfect but is one of the biggest Rated-R blockbusters that I have seen in a long time. There are plenty of jokes and funny moments, which are very James Gunn. The only real negative for me was how it was cut with the timeline jumps that audience actually groaned about. But, at the end of the day, this movie is going to make your jaw drop. Like James Gunn warned us, don’t get super comfortable with the members of Task Force X.
Verdict
I give The Suicide Squad an 8.5 out of 10. This movie is not for children, but if you want to be the Parent Of The Year, go ahead and let them see it. You can watch this movie in theaters or on HBO Max starting August 5th.
