The Full Monty Is Getting A Sequel Series

The Full Monty cast returns for a Hulu/FX series.

After 25 years, the makers of the award-winning film, The Full Monty are coming with a sequel series. Released in 1997, “The Full Monty” remains an iconic British comedy that captivated audiences worldwide with its endearing characters, uproarious humor, and heartfelt message. Directed by Peter Cattaneo and written by Simon Beaufoy, this cinematic gem presents a heartwarming tale of a group of unemployed steelworkers who embark on an unconventional journey toward self-discovery, friendship, and newfound confidence.

Now Hulu and FX are following up with a new comedy series, The Full Monty. It takes place 25 years later. It follows the same band of brothers as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education, and employment sectors. The eight-episode comedy-drama will uncover what happened to the gang after they put their kit back on. It will explore their brighter, sillier, and more desperate moments. It will also highlight how the fiercely funny world of these working-class heroes – still residing in Sheffield – has changed in the intervening decades.

The original movie’s screenwriter Simon Beaufoy returns along with the original cast. Mark Addy, Lesley Sharp, Hugo Speer, Paul Barber, Steve Huison, Wim Snape, and Tom Wilkinson return for the upcoming series. It begins streaming on June 14th, 2023. Watch the series trailer below!
