The Blackening is a meta-horror film.

Coming this August, “The Blackening” is a thrilling and thought-provoking film that explores the convergence of genres. This highly anticipated release will be available on digital platforms starting August 15, followed by its release on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 22, courtesy of Lionsgate.

The film follows a group of seven friends who decide to reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway. However, they find themselves trapped in a remote cabin at the mercy of a demented killer. As they engage in a twisted board game where their lives hang in the balance, the audience is taken on a mind-bending journey into meta-horror.
The stellar cast includes Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji. The film challenges and satirizes genre conventions.
