Strays promises to deliver a side-splitting and unconventional experience.
“Strays” is a comedy film that offers a fresh take on the classic storyline of a dog movie. The film follows Reggie. He is a Border Terrier who is voiced by Will Ferrell. His owner, Doug (played by Will Forte), sadly abandons him, and Reggie finds a companion in Bug. He is a Boston Terrier with rebellious nature and is voiced by Jamie Foxx. As Reggie adapts to his newfound freedom, he realizes the harmful nature of his previous relationship. This makes him decide to seek revenge in his own unique way.
Reggie and Bug are joined on their journey by Maggie, a smart Australian Shepherd, and Hunter, a Great Dane who provides emotional support but is anxious. Isla Fisher plays Maggie, who is feeling neglected by her owner due to the arrival of a new puppy. Randall Park portrays Hunter. Together, they come up with a plan to help Reggie find his way back home and get revenge on Doug for his heartless behavior. Their plan involves targeting the body part that Doug values the most, and it’s not his foot.
The comedy is by director Josh Greenbaum and written by Dan Perrault. Strays takes a sharp and R-rated approach to explore the complications of love, the significance of true friendships, and the unexpected virtues of “couch humping.” The film boasts a powerhouse comedic supporting cast, including Josh Gad, Harvey Guillén, Rob Riggle, Brett Gelman, Jamie Demetriou, and Sofia Vergara.
