On the streets of New Orleans, word begins to spread about a mysterious new pill that unlocks superpowers. The catch: You don’t know what will happen until you take it. While some develop bulletproof skin, invisibility, and super strength, others exhibit a deadlier reaction. But when the pill escalates crime within the city too dangerous levels, a local cop (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) teams with a teenage dealer (Dominique Fishback) and a former soldier fueled by a secret vendetta (Jamie Foxx) to fight power with power and risk-taking the pill to track down and stop the group responsible for creating it.

Project Power showed the huge potential to be a top Netflix movie but unfortunately missed the mark. It has an unique premise that does not live up to its star power. It is an entertaining sci-fi, action thriller that puts a unique twist on superpowers but drops the ball with an empty plot which seems generic. There is a lack of a strong main antagonist and there is zero focus on character development throughout the film. This movie left me with some basic questions that should have been answered throughout but failed to because of a poorly written plot.

I do credit them on making an original and gritty movie that has great action sequences and effects but that is as far as it goes. Sitting at 111 minutes there are several times where this movie drags on and jumps around but luckily having the talents of Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt helps carry this film and keeping your interest alive.

I give the Netflix original movie Project Power a 7/10 and hope this is the return of Joseph Gordon-Levitt starring or featured in more movies.
