Spirited to become an instant Christmas classic!

Spirited is Apple TV’s newest film for the holidays. It is a fresh take on a classic as it is a modern musical rendition of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The film stars Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynold. It also features Octavia Spencer, Patrick Page, and Sunita Mani. The holiday musical comedy from director Sean Anders is playing in theaters for a short time. It will premiere globally on Apple TV+ on November 18th, 2022.
Synopsis
Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. So Clint Briggs turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his past, present, and future.
If you are a fan of song and dance, then you will love Spirited. However, if you are not a fan of musicals, this movie will still win you over with its charm and production value. You can’t go wrong with a team-up between Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrel. This version of A Christmas Carol is told from the perspective of the ghosts. It offers a lot of heart and a good amount of humor. I am no musical lover, but I enjoyed a handful of the songs showcased throughout the colorful performances. The film’s plot is very modern, even though it takes a lot from the iconic Scrooge-centric story, which has been adapted many times. The film’s twists and turns are amusing. The jokes, big or small, filled with social commentary land every time. Spirited’s contemporary and unique execution is a joyous and welcomed adaption.
Verdict
I give Spirited 3.5 out of 5 stars. It is a movie that should make your holiday watch list. If you miss its limited run, turn to your Apple TV+ subscription to give you a better Holiday viewing experience over another Hallmark film.
