The sequel to This Is Spinal Tap to be released on the 40th Anniversary.

This Is Spinal Tap, the 1984 cult classic musical comedy, is getting a sequel decades later. Deadline has reported that the sequel is moving forward, and Rob Reiner will return to direct. He will also return as filmmaker Marty DiBergi. Michael McKean, Harry Shearer, and Christopher Guest are all returning. The Spinal Tap sequel will be released for the 40th anniversary of the original film on March 19th, 2024. It will feature real-life musicians in the movie.
The original film shines a light on the self-contained universe of a metal band. They are struggling to get back on the charts, including everything from its complicated history of ups and downs, gold albums, name changes, and undersold concert dates, along with the full host of requisite groupies, promoters, hangers-on and historians, sessions, release events and those special behind-the-scenes moments that keep it all real.
