Ghostbusters Sequel, Beyond The Spider-Verse, And Many More Get Pushed Back By Sony

Sony makes a big shift in its release schedule, affecting the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel and more.

Several movie release dates have undergone significant changes from Sony, such as the new Ghostbusters movie and Spider-Man: Beyond The Spider-Verse. First off, Gran Turismo was initially scheduled for August 11th. Now it will have a sneak preview over that weekend and will open now on August 25. Madame Web from Sony/Marvel will now open on Valentine’s Day, February 14, instead of February 16th. Meanwhile, “Kraven the Hunter,” another Sony/Marvel film, has moved from its original October 6th, 2023 date to August 30, 2024. As for the “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” sequel, despite finishing shooting, the film requires additional actors in the post-production. Instead of releasing this December, it is scheduled for March 29, 2024, during Easter weekend.

Some films benefited from the schedule shift.

Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse is now TBA, as tons of work is still needed for completion. Bad Boys 4, which finished production, is set to hit theaters on Fathers’ Day weekend, June 14, 2024, and will face competition from Disney/Pixar’s “Inside Out 2. Sony has slated “Venom 3” for release on July 12th, 2024. Lastly, the “Karate Kid” reboot, initially set for June 7, 2024, will now hit theaters on December 13, 2024.
