Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is number one at the box office.

The sequel to 2020’s Sonic the Hedgehog opened up at the number one spot during the weekend. It currently has a global box office total of $141 Million. It almost made half and half domestically($70 Million) and Internationally($71 Million). The sequel doubled up on the action and humor and added more iconic CGI characters with Tails and Knuckles. The first movie opened to $58 million and totaled $320 million worldwide before COVID pandemic crushed the movie industry. This sequel sees the return of Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Ben Schwartz. In addition, it adds Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.
Synopsis
After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search of an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations. Sonic teams up with his own sidekick, Tails, and together they embark on a globe-trotting journey to find the emerald before it falls into the wrong hands. The sequel stars James Marsden, Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, and Jim Carrey returning, alongside new additions Shemar Moore, with Idris Elba as the voice of Knuckles, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey as the voice of Tails.
