Sharper – Movie Review

Sharper is an A24 film coming to Apple TV+.

Sharper is a psychological thriller directed by Benjamin Caron. It features an impressive cast, including Julianne Moore, Sebastian Stan, Justice Smith, and John Lithgow. Additional newcomer Briana Middleton joins the trio in the Apple TV+ flick. It will get a limited theatrical release beginning tomorrow, February 10th, or you stream it on February 17th on the streaming platform

A young man exacts revenge on his family for not accepting him and cons other rich people to gain the wealth he desires.

Sharper could have easily been a limited series. But, instead, Apple TV+ went for a glossy feature film with little depth. As a series, it could have improved the relationships and made them more emotional. Unfortunately, we are delivered a surface-level yet cute love story in the beginning before the rushed drama begins. Then, as everything unravels, the plot becomes evident and predictable. The outstanding cast plays intriguing characters, yet the roles are entirely underwritten. But Justice Smith does shine and has won me over with his performance. Sharper does deliver an entertaining story that will have you glued to the screen but comes up empty in the end.

I give Sharper 3 out of 5 stars. It builds up tons of anticipation with twists and turns but is not as nail-biting as it could be. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
