Red Sonja has been in development for close to a decade.
Matilda Lutz is playing Red Sonja in the upcoming movie. Based on the comic book, the film adaptation will be helmed by M.J. Bassett. The last time we saw the female swordmaster on the big screen was in 1985. It starred Brigitte Nielsen and featured Arnold Schwrnegger as Lord Kalidor, aka Conan the Barbarian. The heroine is based on the character created by American author Robert E. Howard. Roy Thomas and Barry Windsor-Smith adapted it at Marvel Comics. It is currently filming in Bulgaria and should be released in late 2023 or early 2024.
