REACHER Series – Season 1 Review

Reacher is now streaming on Prime Video.

REACHER Amazon Prime Series - Review

Season One of REACHER is based on Lee Child’s first Jack Reacher novel Killing Floor. It is written by writer Nick Santora known for Scorpion and Prison Break. Previously, Reacher had been adapted as a movie starring Tom Cruise. Alan Ritchson takes the role of Reacher who is known for playing Aquaman in Smallville, Raphael in TMNT, Gloss in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Hawk in TITANS.

Synopsis

REACHER follows Jack Reacher. He is a veteran military police investigator who has just recently entered civilian life. Reacher is a drifter, carrying no phone and the barest of essentials. He simply travels the country and explores the nation he once served. When he arrives in the small town of Margrave, Georgia, he finds a community grappling with its first homicide in 20 years. The cops immediately arrest him, and eyewitnesses claim to place him at the scene of the crime. While he works to prove his innocence, a deep-seated conspiracy begins to emerge, one that will require Reacher’s keen mind and hard-hitting fists to deal with. One thing above all is for sure: They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

The casting is spot on with Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher. He is big, emotionless, and intimidating. The series is gritty and broken down into eight 1-hour episodes. Yet, it captures the heart of the books. The series begins strong but unfortunately does not maintain its momentum to the final episode of Season 1. The fight scenes are brutal, resulting in instant deaths to whoever tries to test his brute. There is enough mystery throughout the plot, but it could use more to keep viewers engaged. Nevertheless, fans will be pleased with the most accurate adaption of the books.

Verdict

I give the REACHER series 3.5 out of 5 stars. It is now streaming on Prime Video and is an easy weekend watch. Season Two Confirmed!

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
