Plane is filled with disbelief and violent mayhem that will entertain moviegoers.

Gerard Butler continues to double down on the action-thriller genre with his latest film, Plane. This time he is joined by Mike Colter, best known for playing Luke Cage in the Netflix Marvel Series Luke Cage. Jean-François Richet directs this movie, who previously helmed Assault on Precinct 13. If you have played Far Cry 3, expect the plot to be somewhat similar. This movie was filmed in Puerto Rico and also features Kelly Gale, Daniella Pineda, Yoson An, Remi Adeleke, Haleigh Hekking, Lilly Krug, Joey Slotnick, and Oliver Trevena.
Synopsis
Pilot Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) saves his passengers from a lightning strike by making a risky landing on a war-torn island – only to find that surviving the landing was just the beginning. When most of the passengers are taken hostage by dangerous rebels, the only person Torrance can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Mike Colter), an accused murderer the FBI was transporting. To rescue the passengers, Torrance will need Gaspare’s help and will learn there’s more to Gaspare than meets the eye.
Plane is a fast-paced film that will keep you engaged and entertained. It may not have a fresh premise, but Gerard Butler delivers a solid performance that is complimented by Mike Colter’s stoic presence. This action flick doubles down on the strengths of both these actors and creates a bromance between the two. It offers the audience tons of great moments thanks to its R rating. Bloody kills are expected, but there are also tons of tense and dramatic moments between the flying bullets and explosions.

Despite some roll-your-eye moments, the movie is fun and gets the job done. It is reminiscent of classic action hero films from the 80s and earlier. Plane sticks the landing and will earn an enthusiastic applause from the audience. Let’s hope this movie allows Butler to get more prominent roles and puts a big spotlight on Colter.
Verdict
I give Plane 3.5 out of 5 stars. It will lift you off your seats with its high-throttle and adrenaline-pumping action. You can catch Plane starting January 13th. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
