Variety reports that Nicolas Cage is returning for a sequel to his film Lord of War. Joining him will be John Wick: Chapter 4 and IT actor Bill Skarsgård, who will place his son. Principal photography will start inthe fall of 2023. Writer and director Andrew Niccol will return for the sequel. The 2005 crime drama featured Cage as Yuri Orlov, a Ukrainian-American arms dealer. The film portrays the life of Yuri as he rises to become one of the world’s most successful arms dealers and the consequences of his actions.

The film opens with a chilling statement that the US government is the world’s largest arms dealer. It is followed by Yuri’s narration about how easy it is to obtain a gun in America. This sets the tone for the rest of the film, which explores the world of arms dealing, the politics that drive it, and the human cost of war. The film also explores Yuri’s personal life and his work’s toll on his relationships. His brother, played by Jared Leto, is a drug addict who eventually becomes Yuri’s partner in arms dealing. His wife, played by Bridget Moynahan, struggles to reconcile her love for Yuri with knowing what he does for a living.
