Zombieland: Double Tap – Movie Review (Spoiler Free)

Zombieland is my favorite movie, EVER!

10 years after the first Zombieland, I was like a kid in a candy shop, lined up an hour early and giddy with excitement. The opening scene is EPIC! Didn’t miss a beat, back with the old crew, killing zombies in entertaining ways but after that, it seemed to get repetitive.

Synopsis

Zombie slayers Tallahassee, Columbus, Wichita and Little Rock leave the confines of the White House to travel to Graceland in Memphis, Tenn. Along the way, they encounter other post-apocalyptic warriors and a group of survivors who find refuge in a commune. The scrappy fighters must now rely on their wits and weapons more than ever as they soon find themselves in a relentless battle against smarter, faster and seemingly indestructible zombies.

Zombieland 2 aka Double Tap tried to get creative in adding new characters, new rules, more gore, and new zombies. However, they lost something in the process compared to the charm of the first film. With the introduction of many new characters, the multiple story-lines did this movie a disservice and sidetracked from the main mission, ZOMBIES!

I would have preferred to just keep the original four – Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita & Little Rock. All seem to have not aged a bit, except Little Rock and they don’t let you forget that. You are constantly reminded about her mature look and her need to get a boyfriend during the “Zompocalypse”. It wasn’t terrible but after 10 years waiting I was expecting a much better movie.

Verdict

I give Zombieland: Double Tap a 6/10 and make sure to stay in your seats once the credits roll. The extra scene with the perfect cameo had me rolling!!!
