Men In Black hit theaters on July 4th 1997.

The sci-fi comedy Men in Black, based on the comic book, came out 25 years ago today. It starred Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith as two MIB agents names Kay and Jay. The film was by director Barry Sonnenfeld who helmed Addams Family Values, Wild Wild West, and Men In Black 2 & 3. When the first movie was released, it became the highest-grossing buddy comedy of all time. It still is today as it made $589,390,539 on a $90 Million budget. The MIB franchise would produce two direct sequels, an animated series, and a 2019 spin-off film starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.
Synopsis
They are the best-kept secret in the universe. Kay and Jay are the Men in Black, working for a highly funded yet unofficial government agency, providers of immigration services, and regulators of all things alien on Earth. While investigating a series of unregistered close encounters, the MIB agents uncover the deadly plot of an intergalactic terrorist who is on a mission to assassinate two ambassadors from opposing galaxies currently residing in New York City.
