Like A Boss – Movie Review (Spoiler Free)

Like A Boss is in theaters on January 10th.

Like a Boss Cast

The latest female-led comedy, Like A Boss, hits theaters on January 10th. This film tackles entrepreneurship and lifelong friendships. Like A Boss stars Tiffany Haddish and Rose Byrne. They play best friends Mia and Mel, who are living their best lives running their own cosmetics company they’ve built from the ground up. Unfortunately, they’re in over their heads financially, and the prospect of a big buyout offer from a notorious titan of the cosmetics industry, Claire Luna, played by Salma Hayek, proves too tempting to pass up, putting Mel and Mia’s lifelong friendship in jeopardy.

This movie has a fantastic cast with great talent, but it isn’t enough to save this film. The failure in writing and directing made this movie fall flat. The jokes are sub-par and don’t land high on the funny meter. The writing team seemed to have come from nowhere with zero experience, and the director has no high points in his directing career, all of which showed. Tiffany Haddish should have been in the writer’s room to ensure the laughs were solid and nonstop. Instead, many scenes were pointless and did not drive the plot forward.

Verdict

I give Like a Boss a 4 out of 10. This movie is not the most fantastic comedy, but at 1 hour and 23 minutes, you can burn some time before dinner with the girls or your significant other. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
