Karate Kid Getting A Brand New Film In 2024

Karate Kid getting a feature film after the success of the Cobra Kai spin-off series.

Sony has announced that a Karate Kid film is slated to open in theaters on June 7, 2024. This is the first feature film for the franchise since 2010. That reboot film starred Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan. Sony shared no other details. There is no synopsis, cast or director announced yet. The franchise that started in 1984 is currently on the fifth season of its spin-off series Cobra Kai. The Netflix series stars original franchise cast members Ralph Macchio, William Zabka, Martin Kove, Thomas Ian Griffith, and Yuji Okumoto. Season 5 of Cobra Kai dropped on September 9th and is waiting to be renewed for a sixth season.

Synopsis

Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Sensei Terry Silver is expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.
