1989’s original Road House starred Patrick Swayze.

Academy Award-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in Road House for Prime Video. It is a reimagined take on the 1989 MGM movie. Director Doug Liman will helm the film, known for The Bourne Identity and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Joel Silver, who was behind The Matrix and Die Hard)is producing for his company, Silver Pictures. The 1989 original starred Patrick Swayze, the film’s lead character, Dalton. The new take follows a former UFC fighter (Gyllenhaal) who takes a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.
The cast of Road House also includes Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery. The Amazon Original Movie will go into production in the Dominican Republic this month.
