How To Train Your Dragon Getting Live-Action Movie

DreamWorks’ hit animated film How To Train Your Dragon is getting the live-action treatment.

In 2025 a live-action adaptation of How to Train Your Dragon is hitting theaters. Variety reported that writer and director of the animated trilogy Dean DeBlois is returning to helm this film. He was one of the directors behind Lilo & Stich. Based on Cressida Cowell’s books, the franchise has brought in $1.6 billion. It also spun off into tv three series, DreamWorks Dragons, Rescue Riders, and The Nine Realms. It will hit theaters on March 14th, 2025.

Synopsis

Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) is a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. However, his progressive views and weird sense of humor make him a misfit, although his father (Gerard Butler) is the clan’s chief. Tossed into dragon-fighting school, he endeavors to prove himself as a true Viking, but when he befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, he has the chance to plot a new course for his people’s future.
