As previously announced, the animated movie How To Train Your Dragon is getting a live-action remake. Now we have some casting news reported by Deadline. Mason Thames from The Black Phone and Nico Parker of HBO’s The Last of Us will play Hiccup and Astrid. Writer and director of the animated trilogy Dean DeBlois is returning to helm this film. He was also one of the directors behind Lilo & Stich. It will be in theaters on March 14, 2025.

Hiccup is a Norse teenager from the island of Berk, where fighting dragons is a way of life. His progressive views and weird sense of humor make him a misfit, even though his father is the clan chief. Tossed into dragon-fighting school, he endeavors to prove himself as a true Viking, but when he befriends an injured dragon he names Toothless, he has the chance to plot a new course for his people’s future.
