House of Gucci Movie Review

Synopsis

House of Gucci is inspired by the shocking true story of the family behind the Italian fashion empire. When Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), an outsider from humble beginnings, marries into the Gucci family, her unbridled ambition begins to unravel the family legacy and triggers a reckless spiral of betrayal, decadence, revenge, and ultimately…murder.

Ridley Scott continues his winning streak in the director chair. This visually stylish film that spans three decades boasts a star-studded ensemble cast. Each stands out and delivers impressive performances. Adam Driver continues to showcase that his more than just Kylo Ren as he plays Maurizio Gucci. He brings another dimension to the film and adds another impressive performance to his diverse resume. Lady Gaga has already proven to be an excellent actor. In this film, she plays the gold-digging Patrizia Reggiani, leading the charge with the most screen-time. Gaga and Driver had great on-screen chemistry unraveling the complicated love story that ends in hatred.

Al Pacino plays Aldo Gucci, who is a colorful and wily businessman running the family business. Pacino is a seasoned pro and unquestionably talented actor that continues to impress on the big screen. Jeremy Irons plays the role of Rodolfo Gucci elegantly. He is a man who dwells almost entirely in the past and seeks to prevent his only son, Maurizio, from moving forward.

Every actor shines when they are on screen.

Still, Jared Leto steals the show with his transformation and brilliant performance as Paolo Gucci. His character is more interested in becoming a clothing designer than anything else. Leto’s commitment to the role paid off, delivering a memorable performance that was eccentric and comical.

Verdict

I give House Of Gucci a 9 out of 10. There are tons of award winning performances in this film that you do not want to miss. It will be in theaters November 24th.
