Hotel Transylvania: Transformia - Movie Review

After delays, the 4th Hotel Transylvania film is finally here and pulled from theaters after Amazon’s acquisition. What is sad about this movie is that Adam Sandler did not return as the voice of Drac, but the rest of the star-studded voice-cast remains. It will be available on Prime Video on January 14th.

Synopsis

Drac and the Pack are back like you’ve never seen them before in Hotel Transylvania: Transformania. Reunite with your favorite monsters for an all-new adventure that presents Drac with his most terrifying task yet. When Van Helsing’s mysterious invention, the ‘Monsterification Ray,’ goes haywire, Drac and his monster pals are all transformed into humans, and Johnny becomes a monster! In their new mismatched bodies, Drac, stripped of his powers. An exuberant Johnny, loving life as a monster, must team up and race across the globe to find a cure before it’s too late and before they drive each other crazy. With help from Mavis and the hilariously human Drac Pack, the heat is on to find a way to switch themselves back before their transformations become permanent.

Hotel Transylvania: Transformia is the final chapter of the Hotel Transylvania film series. They make that apparent by making this the worse one out of the entire franchise. The plot was not as fun and exciting as the previous installments but some of humor and jokes are pretty comical. In addition, the story came off lazy as it removed what made these movies fun, the actual Monsters and the Hotel.

Selena Gomez returned as Drac’s daughter, Mavis, alongside Andy Samberg as Johnny.

Still, Adam Sandler not wanting to show up for the 4th and final film shows you the quality to expect. Despite a fun start to the film filled with song and dance, this 4th installment nose dives deep into the “Amazon”, where the quality diminishes. This franchise is officially tiresome. At the end of the day the kids will enjoy it but will have parents waiting for it to end.

Verdict

I give Hotel Transylvania: Transformia a 2.5/5. The ending give us a look at an animations style that is very reminiscent of the previously made animated series which might be a better watch that this 4th film.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.
