Hot Wheels Legends Tour Returns For 2022

2022 Hot Wheels Legends Tour has been announced, and fan car registration is officially open for the fifth year. This epic global contest offers builders an unique opportunity to have their passion projects immortalized by Hot Wheels in a 1:64th scale. Once selected to be reimagined as a die-cast vehicle, the winning fan submission will be available for sale in more than 150 countries worldwide.

The inaugural year of the tour was in 2018 when Hot Wheels celebrated its 50th anniversary.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour began as a series of 15 car shows hosted at Walmart locations around the US. However, over the past four years, the competition has exploded. It has grown internationally to include event stops in 13 countries spanning 5 continents. The initial stop of the 2022 Tour will kick-off with a virtual live stream in New Zealand then in Australia on April 21st.

Upcoming In-Person Events at Walmart in North America:

April 30th Miami, Florida, May 14th Houston, Texas, June 4th Atlanta, Georgia June 18th Northwest Arkansas. July 9th Detroit, Michigan, July 16th Windsor, Canada, July 30th El Segundo, California.
September 10th Indianapolis, Indiana, September 24th Dallas, Texas, October 8th Los Angeles, California.

The Hot Wheels Legends Tour consists of regional winners and Mobil 1 Fan Favorites from each stop.

Afterwards, they all move on to compete in the semi-final and, for the most impressive builds, the Global Grand Finale. However, this year Hot Wheels is breaking with tradition. They are offering one regional winner the additional opportunity to have their custom garage creation reimagined as a limited-run die-cast vehicle.

The winning build best exemplifies the judging criteria of creativity, authenticity, and garage spirit. As a result, the overall winner will be part of the Hot Wheels Garage of Legends and join previous champions. Previous inductees are the 2JetZ, 1957 Nash Metropolitan, 1970 Pontiac Trans Am, and 1969 Volvo P1800 Gasser.
