Finch will debut on Apple TV+ on November 5th.

Finch stars the iconic Tom Hanks, which should be why you watch this movie. This sci-fi movie is the latest film to be part of the growing Apple TV+ catalog. Hanks is no stranger to this platform. This is a follow-up to his Blockbuster Apple Original Film “Greyhound.” This film is directed by filmmaker Miguel Sapochnik, known for Game of Thrones and True Detective.
Synopsis
Tom Hanks stars as Finch. He is a robotics engineer and one of the few survivors of a cataclysmic solar event that has left the world a wasteland. But Finch, who has been living in an underground bunker for a decade, has built a world of his own that he shares with his dog, Goodyear. He creates a robot, played by Jones, to watch over Goodyear when he no longer can. As the trio embarks on a perilous journey into a desolate American West, Finch strives to show his creation, who names himself Jeff, the joy and wonder of what it means to be alive. Their road trip is paved with both challenges and humor, as it’s as difficult for Finch to goad Jeff and Goodyear to get along as it is for him to manage the dangers of the new world.
Finch is a futuristic sci-fi drama with a compelling story. Even non-sci-fi fans will enjoy it. The relationship between man and robot in this movie is touching. Seeing Finch’s relationship with his robot grow is a heartwarming journey as they venture on a life or death road trip. Tom Hanks is so great to watch in Finch or anything else that he is in. He brings a lot of charm to his character as this film relies solely on Hanks, who is the only human character. The interactions occur only with his dog Goodyear and the robot he builds. The robot voiced by Caleb Landry Jones beautifully conveys human-like behavior and showcases adolescence’s innocence. Finch is I Am Legend meets WALL-E.
Verdict
I give Finch an 8.5 out of 10. It is a very enjoyable Tom Hanks movie that I had to watch twice, and I would love to see more of Finch’s backstory.
Listen below as I ask Tom Hanks about a possible prequel.
