Fantastic Four Loses Spider-Man Director Jon Watts

Deadline, has reported that Jon Watts is no longer directing Fantastic Four. Watts, who directed all three Spider-Man films, was set to helm the MCU’s Fantastic Four. However, it is said that he needs a break from the superhero genre. Fantastic Four was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby when Marvel Comics came about in 1961. In the 2000s, 20th Century gave us Tim Story-directed films that starred Chris Evans and Jessica Alba. In 2015, a reboot directed by Josh Trank starring Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan tanked at the box office.

Making three Spider-Man films was an incredible and life changing experience for me. I’m eternally grateful to have been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe for seven years. I’m hopeful we’ll work together again and I can’t wait to see the amazing vision for Fantastic Four brought to life.
