Enola Holmes is now streaming on Netflix
Millie Bobby Brown is the perfect choice to play Enola Holmes. From Stranger Things to Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Brown has a bright future as she showcases how deserving she is of being the lead in future films.
Synopsis
On the morning of her 16th birthday, Enola Holmes wakes to find that her mother has disappeared who left behind an odd assortment of gifts but no apparent clue as to where she’s gone or why. After a free-spirited childhood, Enola suddenly finds herself under the care of her brothers Sherlock and Mycroft, both set on sending her away to a finishing school for “proper” young ladies. Refusing to follow their wishes, Enola escapes to search for her mother in London.
When her journey finds her entangled in a mystery surrounding a young runaway Lord, Enola becomes a super-sleuth in her own right. She outwits her famous brother as she unravels a conspiracy that threatens to set back the course of history.
Enola Holmes is a very well made fun and light hearted film that gives us an escape from modern times. There is tons of energy and charisma in this film thanks to Brown. She is charming and genuine throughout as she proves that she is the best detective in the Holmes family. Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter also star in this movie but the focus is heavily on Brown’s Enola that frequently breaks the 4th wall. Her spirited performance is too good for a single movie and hopefully this film spawns into a series that will obviously become an instant win for Netflix.
Verdict
I give Enola Holmes an 8/10 and recommend that the whole family gather over the weekend to watch this excellent Netflix film that is appropriate for all ages.
