An all-new Dragon Ball Super movie is coming to theaters!
Dragon Ball fans rejoice! Straight from the Grand Creator himself, an all-new Dragon Ball Super movie is coming to theaters!

We have known for a while that after the critical and financial success of Dragon Ball Super: Broly in 2018, Toei Animation was hard at work with a follow-up. But other than that, we had no details. And other than assumptions by fans that the anime would return as well, the only ongoing installment of the DBS franchise has been the monthly manga.

A post that was made last night by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama not only confirmed that a new movie is on its way but that he is heavily involved with its production. Toriyama also teased the appearance of an unexpected character on the big screen!

Will this be an adaptation of the ‘Moro the Galactic Prisoner Saga’ from the manga? A reinvention of a classic villain from one of the DBZ movies, like Broly? Or could ‘unexpected’ mean someone from the Z Fighters’ past, like Cell?

The timing of this post is exciting. May 9th is officially recognized in Japan as “Goku Day” since the numbers 5 and 9 can be read in Japanese as “Go” and “Ku,” respectively. And since it’s already May 9th in Japan right now, we can look forward to more information shortly!
