The latest Dragon Ball Super chapter is titled Operation: Kidnap Pan.

This month’s chapter of Dragon Ball Super begins with a brief retelling of the events of 2018’s Broly film. Toriyama and Toyotaro are technically subjecting the audience to a recap-within-a-recap. While it’s nice to see Super Saiyan Blue Gogeta, Colonel Paragus, and Broly’s immense strength folded into the official canon, Super fans are undoubtedly starting to feel tired of waiting for the anime to return.
Besides the adaptations of key movie scenes like Piccolo’s wish to Shenron (and Bulma’s absurd cosmetic wishes), Vegeta takes a page out of Piccolo’s book by adding meditation to his routine before engaging Goku in a sparring match. Vegeta is still reeling from his defeat at the hands of Black Frieza, so it makes sense for him to adapt his approach to training. Trunks and Goten also appear when the former sees Piccolo leave Capsule Corp and summons his friend to join him with his transformation watch. This means we may see the two boys join the fight against Cell Max in their Saiyaman X-1 and 2 forms instead of as pudgy Gotenks as in the movie.

Back at Red Ribbon headquarters, the Magenta and Carmine recall Son Gohan was the one who originally defeated Cell many years ago. Magenta hatches a plan to kidnap Pan to draw Gohan out of hiding so they can eliminate the threat. Showing more moral fiber than his collaborators, Dr. Hedo is vehemently against kidnapping a child. A disguised Piccolo volunteers to join another henchman in capturing Pan as she leaves preschool to thwart the plan.
Verdict
I give Dragon Ball Super Chapter 93 2.5 out of 5 stars. Apart from a few exciting fight scenes and funny gags, this chapter is more about treading water instead of giving fans what they want. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
