The Equalizer 3 starring Denzel Washington has a 2023 release date.
Sony has announced that Denzel Washington will return to The Equalizer franchise. The third installment will debut in theaters on September 1st, 2023 in premium large format, as well as IMAX. The movie franchise is based on the 1980s TV series of the same name starring Edward Woodward. The first film came out in 2014 and followed a former U.S. Marine turned DIA intelligence officer who reluctantly returns to action to protect a teenage prostitute from members of the Russian mafia.
The sequel was released in 2018 and had Washington’s character set out on a path of revenge after one of his friends was murdered. Antoine Fuqua directed both films. He is best known for directing Washington’s Training Day and The Magnificent Seven. In 2021 CBS premiered The Equilzier series starring Queen Latifah.
