DeLorean ‘Alpha5’ Electric Vehicle Revealed

DeLorean Alpha5 is a boutique EV that DMC purists may not love.

DeLorean has finally revealed their EV model, the Alpha5. It is a fully electric four-seater with gullwing doors. This model has a 100kWh battery pack that should aim toward 300 miles of range. The dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup will accelerate from 0-60mph in 2.99 seconds, and DMC even listed a 0-88mph in 4.35 seconds. It is expected to have a price of around $175,000. The Alpha5 is a collaboration with Giorgetto Giugiaro’sGiugiaro’s ItalDesign. It will be built at DMC’sDMC’s plant in San Antonio, TX. DeLorean Alpha5 will premiere at Pebble Beach Concours d ”Elegance Award ramp on August 18 and the Concept Lawn on August 21.

DeLorean was founded by John DeLorean, who introduced the DMC-12 in 1981. He was part of the developmental team of General Motors Pontiac GTO, Firebird, Grand Prix, and Chevy Vega. His DMC-12 would become the pop-culture icon in the Back to the Future franchise as the time machine Doc and Marty utilize.
