Chicken Run returns with a sequel made for Netflix.

The iconic characters from the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film Chicken Run are again set to grace screens. Aardman, the renowned studio behind Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep, is returning with a sequel to its 2000 classic. The eagerly anticipated follow-up, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, will debut on Netflix on December 15, 2023. Watch the trailer below!

Sam Fell directs it, who was behind ParaNorman and Flushed Away. The sequel reunites audiences with Ginger, voiced by Thandiwe Newton, and Rocky, voiced by Zachary Levi. The duo, who orchestrated a daring escape from Tweedy’s farm in the original film, are back. Now, they face an entirely new and ominous threat to the peace they’ve found on a tranquil island sanctuary. The story turns as Ginger and Rocky welcome a new addition to their feathery family, a little adventurer named Molly. Bella Ramsey, known for her role in The Last of Us, is the voice behind the next generation of chicken heroes. As the sequel unfolds, Ginger and her team face a perilous new challenge on the mainland. Even if it means jeopardizing their hard-won freedom, the feathered heroes are prepared to embark on a daring mission to protect their kind.

Joining Newton, Levi, and Ramsey are a mix of familiar and fresh voices.

It includes Jane Horrocks, Imelda Staunton, Lynn Ferguson, Josie Sedgwick-Davis, David Bradley, Daniel Mays, and Romesh Ranganathan. Miranda Richardson, Peter Serafinowicz, and Nick Mohammed bring the villainous characters to life.

But that’s not the only treat Aardman Animations has in store for fans. Alongside Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, a new Wallace and Gromit special is also developing. The untitled project marks the return of Aardman mastermind Nick Park, the creative genius who introduced the world to the beloved duo with A Grand Day Out in 1989. With these two exciting ventures, Aardman continues to weave its magic on the small screen, promising a delightful holiday season for animation enthusiasts of all ages.
