Chantilly Bridge is the sequel to 1993’s Chantilly Lace by director Linda Yell. The first film was shot as a television film for Showtime. It starred JoBeth Williams, Helen Slater, Lindsay Crouse, Talia Shire, and Jill Eikenberry, Ally Sheedy. The sequel began the film in 2019, 26 years later, and brought back the cast and added Patricia Richardson. It is now available On Demand Here.
Speaking with Director Linda Yellen and stars Patrica Richardson and Jill Eikenberry.
Synopsis
A group of lifelong, steadfast friends reunites, in their later years, chasing their dreams, fighting injustices, and sticking up for their convictions.
Even though I am not the target audience for this film, I did enjoy it. This follow-up is exceptionally well-acted. It does not seem like you are watching a performance on the screen but real people who are talking about real things. The conversations are so raw and emotional. Expect to hear about equality, sex, menopause, mortality, feminism, parenthood, careers, and love. The film is about reconnecting with old friends from the past and the beauty of a shared history. The film got me good with the tissues at the end when Jill Eikenberry’s character mistakes Patricia Richardson’s identity. There is undeniable chemistry between the entire cast, who deliver so much conviction.
Verdict
I give Chantilly Bridge 3 out of 5 stars. It is filled with great dialogue delivered by iconic faces. Those outside the target audience may find it boring, but I highly recommend watching if you are a fan of these ladies. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
