‘Bullitt’ Classic Steve McQueen Film To Be Reimagined By Steven Spielberg

Steven Spielberg’s ‘Bullitt’ will be a completely different take on the character.

Steven Spielberg is currently developing a new original movie based on Frank Bullitt. It is not a remake of the iconic Steve McQueen movie but a reimagining of the character. After securing, rights to the character made famous by McQueen, his son Chad McQueen and granddaughter Molly McQueen will be executive producing. Josh Singer will write the screenplay and is known for The Post and Spotlight work.

Synopsis of 1968 film

Senator Walter Chalmers aims to take down mob boss Pete Ross with the help of testimony from the criminal’s hothead brother Johnny, who is in protective custody in San Francisco under the watch of police lieutenant Frank Bullitt. However, when a pair of mob hitmen enter the scene, Bullitt follows their trail through a maze of complications and double-crosses. This thriller includes one of the most famous car chases ever filmed.
