Brendan Fraser, who starred in the A24 film, The Whale, has won an Oscar for his performance. Fraser plays a 600 lb teacher in the Darren Aronofsky film. The other actors nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role were Austin Butler for Elvis, Colin Farrell for The Banshees of Inisherin, Paul Mescal for Aftersun, and Bill Nighy for Living.
