Blade Runner 2099 Announced As Amazon Series

Deadline is reporting a live-action series set in the Blade Runner universe is in development. Blade Runner 2099 will be is a follow-up to 2017’s Blade Runner 2049. directed by Denis Villeneuve. Ridley Scott, the director of the 1982 original will, be an executive producer. An anime series has already made its debut titled Black Lotus, set in 2032 is on Adult Swim and Crunch Roll it follows a young woman with amnesia who must hunt down the people responsible for her brutal and bloody past to find the truth of her lost identity.

The 1982 film is based on Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? It starred Harrison Ford as Deckard, forced by the police Boss to continue his old job as Replicant Hunter. His assignment is to eliminate four escaped Replicants from the colonies who have returned to Earth. However, before starting the job, Deckard goes to the Tyrell Corporation and meets Rachel, a Replicant girl he falls in love with.

The 2017 sequel had Harrison Ford return alongside Ryan Gosling, who played Officer K, a new blade runner for the Los Angeles Police Department. He unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. His discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who’s been missing for 30 years.
