The Bad Boys Franchise

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah first gained international recognition with their film “Bad Boys for Life” (2020). It was the third film in the popular “Bad Boys” franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Their fresh take on the action-comedy genre breathed new life into the series, earning them praise from critics and audiences. The film’s success catapulted them into the spotlight and opened doors to bigger opportunities in Hollywood. They are currently working on a fourth film.

Bringing back Tim Burton’s world of Batman.

One of the most highly anticipated projects for El Arbi and Fallah was their involvement in the now-canceled Batgirl film. Starring Leslie Grace as Batgirl, Brendan Fraser as the villain Firefly, and Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman, the film promised to be a thrilling addition to the DC Extended Universe. While the project faced setbacks and was ultimately shelved, it showcased the directors’ potential to helm major studio franchises. However, the disappointment did not deter the duo from pursuing bigger, better projects to showcase their talents.

Bringing Ms. Marvel to life.

Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah also made waves in the world of Marvel with their work on the highly anticipated “Ms. Marvel” series. Bringing the Muslim superhero Kamala Khan to life was a significant milestone in their careers, as it marked a commitment to diversity and representation in the superhero genre. Kamala Khan is set to return in the film The Marvels.

Their latest project, “REBEL,” departs from the superhero world and delves into a gripping and harrowing narrative. The film tells the story of Kamal, played by Aboubakr Bensaihi, who embarks on a journey to Syria to help war victims but finds himself trapped amid conflict. Back home, Kamal’s younger brother Nassim, played by Amir El Arbi, falls prey to radical recruiters who promise to reunite him with his brother. Lubna Azabal plays their mother, Leila, who fights to protect her only remaining son.

“REBEL” is a dazzling and bold film that explores the complexities of family, radicalization, and the human spirit’s resilience. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah’s ability to tackle such a challenging and relevant topic with sensitivity and depth showcases their versatility as directors.
