Barb and Star debuts PVOD February 12th.
Barb and Star aka Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, were the writers behind the brilliant movie Bridesmaids. Now they are introducing new characters that they had been honing since their early days in improv’s Groundlings. Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar is skipping theaters and will be available on Premium Video On-Demand on February 12th.
Take a trip and break out of your shell with Barb and Star. From the gals who brought you
Bridesmaids (co-stars and co-writers Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo) comes Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar. Lifelong friends embark on the adventure of a lifetime when they decide to leave their small Midwestern town for the first time…ever. Romance, friendship and a villain’s evil plot…hold onto your culottes
After watching multiple trailers for Barb and Star, this movie was not what I expected at all. The public’s interest would have peaked if the trailer was not so ambiguous. This movie is Zoolander meets Austin Powers. Unfortunately, this movie won’t sit well with many. It may be unwatchable for those that do not enjoy the spy comedy genre, which seems to be overplayed. There are a handful of clever and funny scenes, but overall the movie doesn’t work cohesively. It felt like multiple sketches were filmed and threaded together. If you have displeasure with awkward song and dance in films, then stay away from this one. Even though I enjoyed the interactions between Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo and the celebrity cameos, which were the highlights of the movie, it was a poor plot and PG-13 jokes that made this movie fall right into the sand.
I give Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar a 4/10 and encourage you to wait until this movie finds its way onto one of the many streaming platforms you are already subscribed to.
