American Underdog is a Kurt Warner story starring Zachary Levi.

American Underdog tells the truly inspirational story of Kurt Warner, who went from stocking shelves at a grocery store to a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. It is a humbling movie about Football, Faith, and Family that will hit you in the feels.
Synopsis
The film centers on Warner’s unique story and his years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player. Just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, with the support of his wife, Brenda and the encouragement of his family, coaches, and teammates Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is.
Zachary Levi was seemingly the first choice to play Kurt Warner. I know this because I asked him when I ran into him during his visit to Dallas. After watching this movie, I really could not picture anyone else playing Kurt Warner other than him. This movie is not a sports movie. Like Rocky is not about Boxing, American Underdog is not about Football. It is about a family’s journey in life through the tough and thin.
Levi does an excellent job embodying Iowa-born Kurt Warner, a hard worker, and a big dreamer. His biggest struggle is his attempts to be part of his future wife’s life, played by Anna Paquin. When Kurt meets her, she is a single Mom with 2 kids, but that does not deter him. There are great performances all around, and the true story is one worth telling, especially with the times we have all been going through.
Verdict
I give American Underdog a 7.5 out of 10. It is a movie worth the watch this Christmas.
