Akira Takarada made his Godzilla debut at just 20 years old.
Godzilla franchise star Akira Takarada has passed away at age 87. His family said in a statement that he passed away on March 14th in Japan. Takarada made his first appearance in the franchise in Godzilla’s first film in 1954. After that, he gained international fame and was just 20 years old. He starred in Mothra vs. Godzilla, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, and the 2004 film Godzilla: Final Wars. In addition, Takarada made a cameo in the 2014 Godzilla film featured as a deleted scene.
