Air – Movie Review

Air will hit theaters before streaming on Prime Video.

Ben Affleck as Phil Knight with this foot on desk in Air.

Air is directed by Ben Affleck, who stars as NIKE CEO Phil Knight. The film tells the unbelievable tale of how the multi-billion dollar shoe company landed and Michael Jordan. It stars Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Matthew Maher, Marlon Wayans, Jay Mohr, Julius Tennon, Chris Tucker, and Viola Davis, who plays Jordan’s mother.

Air follows the unbelievable game-changing partnership between a then-rookie Michael Jordan and Nike’s fledgling basketball division, which revolutionized the world of sports and contemporary culture with the Air Jordan brand. This moving story follows the career-defining gamble of an unconventional team with everything on the line, the uncompromising vision of a mother who knows the worth of her son’s immense talent, and the basketball phenom who would become the greatest of all time.

Air is a fun film about a historic deal that landed in the 80s. If you like movies like Moneyball, then you will highly enjoy this. But all moviegoers will find something to love while watching. This drama appeals to the whole family, from Matt Damon’s and Viola Davis’ award-winning performances to the spotlight-stealing scenes by Chris Tucker and Chris Messina. The script by Alex Convery is just as strong as the performances. It was also great to see Affleck and Damon reunite since their last film, The Last Duel. These two have been working together since their 1997 film Good Will Hunting. Thanks to great directing and a fantastic cast, Air is a slam dunk. You will have fun with the nostalgic backdrop and learn how Michael Jordan secured a lifetime of earnings from Nike.

I give Air 4 of out 5 stars. It delivered an inspirational and feel-good movie with an incredible ensemble cast delivering all-star performances. Catch it in the theaters starting on April 5th, 2023. Read more Reviews on Nerdtropolis and Subscribe to our YouTube.
