A sequel to A Christmas Story is in the works from Legendary & Warner Bros.
After 40 years a sequel to the iconic A Christmas Story has been announced. It will be titled Christmas Story Christmas and will see the return of child star Peter Billingsley who played Ralphie. This film will follow an adult Ralphie. He finally returns to Cleveland Street to deliver his kids a magical Christmas like the one he had growing up. It will be directed by Clay Kaytis, who was behind The Christmas Chronicles for Netflix. Production will begin February in Hungary.
Previously there was an attempt at a sequel in 2012.
It was titled A Christmas Story 2 but was a straight to DVD failure. Both Christmas Story trailers are below for your entertainment. There was also a 1988 film titled Ollie Hopnoodle’s Haven of Bliss. It followed a teenage Ralphie Parker played by Jerry O’Connell over summer break as he seeks gainful employment and struggles to survive a particularly harrowing Parker family road trip. In 1994 there was another “sequel” tiled My Summer Story. Ralphie Parker is played by Kieran Culkin who struggles to find the perfect spinning top with which to defeat his old rival, Scut Farkus played by Chris Owen.
Synopsis of the 1983 film
