In the recent weeks I got wind of an unique twist on a gaming cafe 40 minutes outside Houston, Texas. I had to make a visit and check out this awesome concept myself. Even though a tropical storm was brewing I made way to the official ribbon cutting ceremony with the entire Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce in attendance.
Comix Cafe is the culmination of a childhood dream for Owner, Darrin Stringfield, and with his wife Lindsay they decided to pursue this dream in the summer of 2018. Behind the cafe sweets is Darrin himself. He began his passion for baking at a very young age making homemade desserts and treats in the kitchen with grandma.
I was amazed when I walked in how big the space was and it seems they have plans to continue to add more features to this exciting cafe twist. The entire staff was extremely friendly and hospitable which made me feel at home. I had to try one of their drinks and ordered a Cookies n Cream Frappe which was extremely delicious and fulfilling, which I enjoyed while browsing through the comics.
Other than having freshly brewed specialty coffee beverages, and pastries made fresh in store daily, they have multiple tables set up for a variety of card/board games for all ages. On top of that they have a fully equipped comic book store filled with new and old issues, collectible figures and much more to fulfill your pop culture needs!
Since it was also New Comic Wednesday, you know I had to pick up the very anticipated J.J. Abrams written Spider-Man #1 which introduces a brand new villain which I look forward to diving into!
